Tranquil Labour Day Lake

Labour Day Lake Trail is located near Port Alberni in Central Vancouver Island. Logging roads in the Cameron Valley provide good vehicle access to secluded Labour Day Lake, some 30 km southwest of Port Alberni.

A short walk suitable for portaging canoes leads through the forest to the lake, and a pleasant two hour hiking trail around the lake. This is also a popular fishing destination and base camp for Mt. Moriarty rock climbers.

Overnight visitors can camp right on the lakeshore at a small Forest Service recreation site. The area is known to be home to a variety of wildlife including Roosevelt Elk.

Access is via the Cameron Main logging road (off Hwy 4) and Lake Road.

Trail information for Vancouver Island is provided in three superb Hiking Trails guides by the Vancouver Island Trails Information Society.
